I've never had a close encounter with a bear (black or grizzly) so I'm not sure how I would react in that situation. At what point is a person justified to start shooting? I would have a hard time not shooting anything that's within pistol range simply because of their speed and unpredictable...
Never had any issues in camp, other than some strange noises that wake you up (and sometimes keep you up). Only real scare I've had was hiking back to the truck well after dark one night. During the hike out, I kept seeing eyes off the side of the trail. I made it about 3 miles and was maybe 1/4...
Anyone here still playing online poker for real money? I played all the time back in college, but haven't tried playing since they put all the restrictions in place 10+ years ago. I'd like to start playing again if I can find a way to do it legally and not have to worry about sketchy offshore...
Nothing yet in ND. Had some warm weather this week, but now it's going to rain all weekend and the high temps for next week are in the 50s. Hoping for a bit of a warm-up to bring them out next weekend. I've heard when the lilacs start to bloom it's go time.
Now I'm seeing that even the Martin's permethrin is not recommended for clothing, even though it's water-based. Lots of guys using it, so I'm not sure which route to go. The sawyer might be the easiest, but certainly not the cheapest.
Here is a good article on permethrin. I found a number of sources that say direct sunlight (UV) will degrade permethrin, so you could try setting them out side for a few days. Martin's Permethrin is a water-based product that is suitable for use on clothing, so I'll be switching to that...
So which concentrated permethrin do you guys prefer to use? I used some stuff from Tractor Supply that turned the water white, but it was just on jeans that I used for morel hunting. How long will that stuff keep the ticks away before having to re-apply?
Honestly, I wouldn't ask anything specific. Friend of a friend doesn't make it your friend. At the most, I would just ask for advice on the area and go from there. If the person opens up then you might be able to ask some more specific questions.
Dickinson is only 40 miles from Medora....If it's hot in Medora it will be hot in Dickinson. If you won't be hiking, just drive through the park and take a quick walk through the town. The musical starts around sundown so you could always head for Dickinson afterwards. I haven't been in Medora...
Medora is located right at the entrance to the park and is just a fun little town. Lots of small shops and fun stuff for the kids. I haven't been to the Medora Musical for years, but I know that people come from all over to see it. Medora is great for one day/night unless you're into hiking...
Maybe I could get by with both packs....44mag for September and the Hoodlum for late season.....I'm a bigger guy at 6'4" 230, but I think I could maybe get by with a little less in September. The sawtooth and stove is always nice though. What to do?
I would highly recommend staying a night in Medora on your way to or from Yellowstone. Check out the town and park during the day and take in the musical at night. Then head down to SD the following day.
If you haven't already done so, try googling "Montana 620-21 elk" and you'll see all kinds of threads on various sites. Many of those threads were started by people just like yourself (new members, first time posters). Sure, you will get some information on the internet, but your best resource...
I've been shooting the cable driven rests for years. Just curious why you prefer the limb driven? Seems to me that a good set of cables with the rest tied in correctly would eliminate much of the inconsistencies associated with stretch and twist.
Kind of a two-part question here regarding new strings, tuning, and drop-away rests.
I'll be installing new strings and am wondering if I should get the cams synced right away, or after the strings are shot in. My thought is get the cams synced and everything to spec, and then re-check after...
