Looks like for some of those lease costs , you could just do the management hunts buck and some does for the freezer. I found quite a few ranches that offer them.

The 70's and 80's were the best south of Tucson. More trash than the landfill now, it's a real bummer. Friends owned a ranch over by Sasabe, could not even go to town without getting broke into.
There's a good article on short barreled 243 on the Rifleshooter.com. I'd have to take a hard pass on that short on the 243. 2400 and change is pretty slow for 100 grainers. IMHO 20" is better.

Learned that lesson last December, landed on my butt descending smooth dry rock. Saved the rifle ,dinged the scope. Pride got bashed up pretty good, no warranty on that.
I just picked up a series 5, it was made in Japan. Excellent so far. mil. ffp. CT discontinued them? I think the Hardline is the replacement? big diffrence in price.
