I quit shooting 130 gr SSTs from my .270 on deer because of too much meat damage. Never had any wounding issues or lost any deer, just a lot of meat loss and had to pick out some bullet fragments. Very short (practically 0) tracking jobs. Very accurate in that gun too. Would think the smaller...
10-shot group at 100 yards with the copper creek 88s in .22-250 from this week. 30mph winds so I definitely wasn't my best. They don't group as well as the 75s or some 55s in my gun but that's plenty good for me.
Thanks. Have been shooting it with a standard adapter on the 6.5 and it's working great, I'll double check the diameter tonight. Good to know about ordering the 1/2" with a .30 cal hole though, seems like they should all come that size on the adapter since it's a .30 cal can.
Rem 700 CDL in .270 win. It's 20 years old now. Still use it about 50% of the time, and 100% of all big game I've killed could've been taken with it. Had the trigger worked on - it had an insanely long and heavy pull that gave me hell when I was younger. Much easier to shoot now. Sling broke 5...
The CGS website says their 1/2-28 adapter is only for 5.56mm. https://cgsgroup.com/product/hyperion-thread-adapter/
I have a 6.5mm barrel threaded at 1/2 and I want to put that adapter on it (adapter is currently on a .22-250 and working great). Is that just CGS being cautious or is the inside...
Mine is an old T3 and I bought a factory 1:8" barrel from UM. They cut it to 18" and threaded and I had my local gunsmith swap it on for me. So yes it's a new one but as mentioned previously they make 2 options from the factory. Not sure what the point is of the 1:14" since mine put 10 rounds of...
I bought them from Copper Creek; don't load my own. I haven't chrono graphed them but the 88s are definitely not moving super fast. Easily my favorite rifle to carry and shoot regardless.
I've been shooting a factory tikka 22-250 with the 75 and 88 eldms recently and haven't had any issues, just lots of good groups and dead deer. Really like the rifle. 18" suppressed is a dream. Also fun to be able to shoot the 50 gr stuff at warp speed for cheap practice.
Of course you can have an individual opinion about an activity, but failing to recognize that these attacks are targeting hunting as a whole will weaken our ability to defend against them. They're saying "just ban lion hunting with hounds," but what they mean is "ban lion hunting with hounds...
@Formidilosus I have an older tikka 22-250 with what I assume is the slower twist rate (1:14?). I bought some 77 tmks for it. Should I expect them to tumble/not work at all?
We usually have a wounded buck run onto our property in Texas and die each year. Sometimes find them still alive. Sometimes with rotting wounds. Most of them we find like that seem to be shot in the neck.
I hunt near DFW too and our turkeys get fired up when we duck hunt nearby. Makes for some fun hunts. They gobble at the calls, at the shot, and when you blow the dog whistle. That said, I haven't found locators work nearly as well here as they do in the east during the spring for whatever...
