Suppressor vs Muzzle Brake for Long Range Hunting

Suppressor. And it’s not even close. I absolutely loathe a brake these days. The one gun I still use a brake on will be getting a suppressor hopefully this summer and I’ll do away with the brake on it.

Got a scope cover on the way. Figure it’ll be nice if I happen to be out in the elements

After some searching, I may just get an ebrake. I’m shooting a 25cm so I don’t need the recoil reduction. If I ever get a can for my muzzleloader I’d be interested in the recoilx

Please explain the recoilx brake. I’ve seen the ebrake and have a scythe, so I understand the principal, just haven’t heard of the recoilx.

Questions about the irrelevance of energy (ft-lbs)

While your marginal shot may be unintentional, it’s still a bad shot. I used to have the same mentality that you’re trying to portray. Nothing trumps a bad shot. Huge energy numbers do not compute to insurance as you’re trying to claim. There’s other variables that are more important...

Questions about the irrelevance of energy (ft-lbs)

There is no insurance tho. A bad shot is still a bad shot, period. My muzzleloader produces around 3900ft lbs of energy at the muzzle. I gut shot a deer a few years ago with it. You know how much it helped me, not a bit. A bad shot with a ton of “energy” didn’t equate to squat...

    Long range muzzleloader

I don’t shoot an arrowhead, but I do have an early Hankins built savage rifle. This started out as a 308 CF rifle, not an MLII or ML. 24” barrel, believe it’s a pacnor. I’ve pushed a 275 to a little over 2800 fps. I’ve not messed with 300s enough to give a velocity. This past season...

    Long range muzzleloader

Is that with a shouldered barrel or a nut. I would think you’d be much faster than that with a shouldered rifle.

I like it. I have my feelings about the e targets, but there’s lots of yardages to shoot
