I am considering purchasing a new scope for a 30-06 Winchester Model 70 I have. I have narrowed it down to a Nightforce SHV 3-10x or a Steiner Predator 4 2.5-10 x. Does anybody use these scopes and what are your recommendations? Thanks for the input!
I want to thank everyone for their response to my question….. Just to let you know I am returning the rifle to Winchester for warranty repair or replacement. I have never had a rifle like this and at 68 years old I have had many many rifles to include Sakos, Blazers, Winchesters, Brownings...
I just purchased a European made Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather 30-06 . The barrel seems to be extremely picky as to what commercial ammunition it likes. It only seems to like Hornady 178 grain Precision Hunter Ammunition or Sierra 165 Grain Game Kings……. Pretty disappointed at its...
Considering that you bought a 308 Winchester you should limit your shots to 400 yards or so. The 308 is an excellent cartridge , but its range is limited compared to a 300 Weatherby Magnum.
Your rifle is on the light side, so you probably want to keep it that way.
I would look at a Nightforce...
We bought a 2011 FJ and drove it for 7 years. Sold it at 118000 miles. Not one issue with the truck except having to replace the windshield ……. If you can find a good example with no rust and maintenance history, buy it. We loved ours, traded for a 4 Runner but miss the FJ….. Drove well on...
I got unbelievably lucky this year and drew a Unit Idaho Mule Deer Tag. Since I am now going on 69 years of age it came at a good time considering I am aging out of Big Game hunting. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with information about the road trail system Do the roads/ trails...
Do not under any circumstances trust this ammunition. Look at the primer strikes on my post and Barnes had the gull to say the brass is a little on the short side. I found them totally unhelpful. There must be cases and cases of this ammunition on the shelves now that misfires……. Lots of...
Well to be perfectly honest it does not group well for me… I sent it back to Weatherby and ended paying to have it evaluated under warranty. .It placed 3 rounds into about .38 inches… on their test target. As a consequence I ended up paying for the accuracy test. For me the rifle is just to...
Williston has very cold windy winters, brace yourself. Due to the oil fields it has had an increase in crime in the last 10-15 years. The whole area of west North Dakota went through some growing pains during the last oil boom. The schools are generally good in North Dakota. You will be in...
It looks like they were purchasing brass from SEVERAL SOURCES. I had heard brass was also hard to come by……. I wonder how many sources they were using for primers, which was really hard to acquire……..
The ammunition is brand new….. I am a little rough on opening the box. Barnes has the photos and blamed the misfires on the brass being within SAMI spec but on the short side……
No I do not, the lot numbers are on the flaps of the boxes….. Not impressed with the companies response. If this is a primer issue it could effect lots of ammo that uses a standard primer. Your magnum uses a hotter primer, you are probably OK. Good hunting, stay safe…..
Multiple misfires out of two boxes, used 3 different 308 rifles, deep primer strikes but no ignition, company claims brass meets SAMI specs on the short side, but deep primer strikes appear to be a primer issue……. Not trusting this ammo for hunting season……
I just purchased a Weatherby Backcountry 2.0 in .308 Winchester with the steel receive….. It is really light weight, maybe to light….. I am glad I went with the steel receiver vs the titanium receiver…. The extra weight savings just does not justify the added cost of the titanium in my opinion……
