I'll throw my daughter Evie in to the mix. She's 10 years old, loves getting out in the woods with me, and has been begging me to let her have a chance at deer hunting (hopefully youth weekend this fall). When asked about her interest in this she was beaming with excitement.
With my handloads that almost exactly emulate the Hornady American whitetail, I get 2650 out of my 19" pipe.

Third vote for the Whipper Snapper. It's a bit more than the cheapest options but much more nicely put together. Crisp and quiet release and easy to hook on the d ring with just your thumb
