Brake for Tikka T3

I bought a Tilka T3 lite 7mm Mag last year for hunting/ longer range target shooting. The recoil is not bad and I love the gun. I do not want to brake my gun for hunting but would not mind less recoil for those times I'm target shooting. Would it be practical to thread the barrel and install a brake for target shooting, and then take it off and screw on a cap for hunting?
Also what brakes work good? For my system.

Get a clamp on from Witt Machining. Goes off and on easy, costs 85 bucks out the door. Here's mine on a Tikka. It's on a 30-06 and kicks like a 243.

A slip on limbsaver makes shooting my 280AI at the range something that isn't fatiguing. I forgot it last time at the range and it was beating on me as time went on.

Identical groupings between when its on/off? To what distance have you shot it to both ways?

Shoots better with the brake, as you know, Tikkas thump ya a little bit, especially the .30 cals. The brake has calmed it to the point that it's clover leaves all day at the range. Haven't stretched it out at all yet though but idk why the groups wouldn't stay tighter than a nun way out there too...

For me, it's not the recoil of my 300WM but the muzzle jump that has me considering a brake. I still haven't taken the plunge though, obviously. Hopefully 16Bore or GKPrice chime in as I believe they both have some good experience with brakes on Tikkas.

Muzzle rise is virtually nonexistent now that the rifle is braked. Had the same issue with mine when shooting from the bipod, but no more! Hope that helps.

I've seen several recommend the Micro Bastard Brake from americanprecisionarms.com.

Not sure if you need the 1/2x28 or 9/16x32

Does the point of impact vary at all though was my main wonder. I didn't know if the brake influenced the flight path at all.

Can't answer that as I put a new scope on with the brake. Researched extensively online and couldn't find one reliable instance of FPS going up or down with the addition of a brake.

I've had the Micro Bastard installed on a bunch of Tikkas and it fits like it was made for them. I thinks it the best brake on the market for a sporter weight barrel.

My son's .243 that I just set up for him.

Ianpardon, I like the versatility. How does it attach? Set screws?

These actually help? I have the 30.06 as well..could you pm me the link to the correct one? Do you use this for target only or hunting as well?

Thanks and good luck this year.

I picked up a micro bastard gen II which I'm having a couple barrels threaded for (9/16x24). First is a rem 700 in 300rum, second is a tikka t3 300wm, and third is a howa 270. Same brake used for all as you install and time it yourself, once the barrel is threaded. Can't say if it works well or not yet but will post some pics in a week or so, if your interested.
I did have a tikka t3 in 7mag with a B&C stock and didn't think it needed a brake after a box of ammo. Didn't have any fatigue at all.

Does the hex screws scar the barrel?

MT
Nope, they screw into the other side of the brake like a clamp. They don't come into contact with the barrel at all. Witt asks you to take precise measurements of your barrel taper and the brake is custom machined for it.

Justin I have only heard good things about the bastard brakes, are they a more permanent brake or do they detach easily? I would need to find a good gunsmith here in Eastern Washington to thread my barrel and install. Any suggestions?
