Thanks again for putting this on guys. Was a ton of fun and already looking forward to next year. Thanks to the sponsors as well. I went 2/3 and can feel good about it as I haven't been able to shoot for the two previous years. I bought a new Mathews Lift 33 this year, but wasn't confident in it yet. so I used Ol' Reliable (E35). Next year I plan to extend the range 5-10 yds and shoot with the Lift 33. Best wishes to all,
Jared

Day 3 no wind beautiful day. This last shot was as good as they come. Vitals area on this target was 7" +/-

89° no wind but so dang humid my contacts are glazing over.
Low and right of center target.
Shoulder blade or guts. Definitely not ideal shot.

Got tied up as grille master for Mother’s Day. 2nd arrow today no wind and 71°. Took my time found anchor points and released. Better but not great. Edged in the kill zone this time. We’ll see what tomorrow holds.

Day 3 78° no wind and pretty evening. Decided to pop out the old contacts and put the glasses on, which I hate, to see if that would help arrow placement. Now that the CBC is done for me, I’ve got some tuning to do. All shots were consistently low right and grouped well. Gonna make some adjustments and see if I can get dialed back in.
Thanks for the opportunity, I’ve enjoyed my first time.

Kill zone is 7in yellow circle of 18 in 1 target.

I have only shot a couple times since last fall. Purposely shot only 1 arrow Friday.
That and first two shots felt pretty good so far. Wondering if my best bet is to think and tinker less?

Day 1.
72. 3-5 mph wind left to right.
20240511_150010.jpg

Day 2. 76. No wind.
20240512_164952.jpg
Day 3. 73 degrees. Wind 6mph from 10 o'clock.
20240516_125627.jpg
Miss. Close but a miss.
Low and right is the trend. Time to move up to 20 and get things dialed in.
Thanks to the mods for managing this and the motivation to start shooting.

Shot #1 Little to no wind, I held pretty long but the shot felt great.

Shot #2 late morning, no wind, really bright out. The shot felt great.

Shot#3 There was a slight breeze today and I couldn’t get the pin to settle as well but still managed to sneak it in.

2nd CBC for me. Exact same set up and distance as last year.

IMG_2808.jpeg

2nd shot. Light rain, shot quick. Got home, grabbed bow, knocked arrow, and shot. All done in 1 minute. But the follow through (my weakness) was excellent and I hit well.

IMG_2810.jpeg

The working end of the arrow.

IMG_2811.jpeg

3rd shot. Little high but it’s in there. Give you a little wider view for this pic so you can see what’s in the background. Although it wasn’t standing there at the shot. It was an hour between shot and photo.

These new rules forced me out of my comfort zone and I like that. Had to get some broad heads for the trad bow on Friday. Slight breeze from left to right and think I compensated a little to much on the compound.

Day 2 shot compound. Had to wait for the wind to die down a little. Wind was behind my back.

Day 3 and honestly I don’t know what happened. Shot felt good. I’m shooting through a wind tunnel but it seemed like it was the calmest out of the 3 days shooting so I must have pulled the shot.

Day 2 with the Trad was a slight miss but still on the target and just barely outside the hit zone.

Day 3 of the trad bow and felt like a good shot but a little high today. Another miss. Need to shot my trad more but this challenge always makes me feel that way. I’d like to be shooting 30 yards with my trad bow next year and have all 3 on target.

I got lucky on day 1! Calm but drizzly conditions here in PA. I'm shooting a new-to-me 2019 Athens that I'm really liking compared to my 2009 Elite. Kill zone is the larger yellow circle on the 18:1.

Day 2. Miss high with the recurve was lack of practice. Miss high with the compound may have been the cable guard rotating in and causing fletching clearance issues. I think I am going to replace it with a simpler design.

Day 3 was delayed for a lot of reasons, but I final got those two last shots in. I was afraid rotating the cable guard back might mess up the tuning, but the arrow landed where I wanted it to.

8” kill zone. Firm believer in 1” per 10 yards in controlled practice scenarios.
Shot 1: 72 degrees, 5mph crosswind, held dead on. Shooting slightly side hill and up.

Shot 2: First light simulation 7am. Head to toe full hunt equipment with a 25lb pack. Pulled left. Guessing the added weight pulling me downhill to the left. Miss

Easton 6.5 with 50 grains of brass, 125 grain points, 3 blazers/rapt x. 480 grains total arrow weight. Moving along just a touch over 280 fps.

Day 1: Calm, shot broke great. shooting at a matrix target. Those blocks are a little bigger than a deer’s heart and a little smaller than an elk heart. As long as inside the outer perimeter blocks’ white center dots, I’m happy.

Day 2: Calm, shot broke great today. Bow is sighted in to swept blade exodus. Shot a full blade today and it’s just a touch low. Not surprised by that at 70, the full blade creates a decent bit more drag. Still a kill shot on deer lungs. Will shoot a swept again tomorrow.

Day: Calm, shot broke great again. I shot a swept exodus today and confirmed that the full does catch a bit more drag. This was a fun challenge. Can’t wait for fall!

I am shooting my compound and traditional bow. I will be shooting a small elk target and the vitals insert is what I’m trying to hit with both bows. New to the traditional bow, so a fun challenge for sure.

Day 1. Recurve felt solid and hit. Compound, out of the vitals. (Been shooting the Recurve alone for a couple months and it shows) haha. Having too much fun with the struggle stick.

Day 2. Recurve is feeling natural. Little right but I will have to do some fine adjustments after the challenge. Compound OUCH! 0 for 2. MER obviously not 60 anymore. See if I can sneak one in tomorrow.

Day 3. Nice calm morning and just feeling it. Arrows left the string under some back tension and both hits.

Thank you Rokslide and sponsors for once again lighting a fire under me this spring. I am calling it! This year. First harvest with the traditional equipment!!! And squeeze in some practice with the hot wheels.

In for the 2nd year! Stepping back 5 yds from last year. Target is black outline as the vitals are backwards and not in the right place on the insert IMO lol.

1st shot was dead calm, last light.

2nd shot was windy, 5-10 mph gusts. Shot didn’t feel great as I held at full draw for awhile waiting for the wind to die down then kind of punched it. Result was good though, right beside shot 1.

3rd shot touched the first one! Dead deer, happy with the results.. had a stiff breeze in my face.
Thank you Rokslide for putting this on and also big Thanks to the sponsors!

This is my first year in the CBC (second year of archery). I will be hunting elk and whitetail, but won't shoot as far for whitetail so I sent my MER at 55 and using a 8.5" plate outline as target (apparently I don't have paper plates in my house). I changed my strings not too long ago and have only broadhead tuned the bow out to 35 yards, so we will see how this goes!

Day 1: 52 degrees outside, calm as could be. Shot broke well and aiming was a little shakey left to right but felt solid vertically so a little surprised it hit lower. I suspect my BH tune might be a little low - we will see how where the shots land the next couple of days. I might add a yard to my sight tomorrow.
1715518197282.jpeg

Day 2: changed locations today. Breezes picking up here and there but didn’t notice it during my shot since I was too busy being blinded by looking directly towards the sun in the early evening. Struggled to locate my bubble in the sight picture since the target was in the shade. Really threw me off. Hold was much more shakey than yesterday but still had a surprise break. Not happy with the result. I did add a yard to my sight today and the vertical looks better. I wasn’t wearing a hat today which I absolutely would be during a hunt - wonder how much that would have helped.
1715635678893.jpeg

Day 3: Cloudy and rainy today - no sun in my eyes 🙂. Still felt a little shakey - had a very surprise release to the point I thought “oh s#%@“ when it went off. End result couldn’t have been better - gotta trust the process. Still had my sight set one yard higher and confirms my BH tune is slightly off. Glad the challenge is over because I’ve been dying to shoot my bow more!

Summary:
I've got some work to do before hunting season. I haven't been shooting much this spring and it shows, I need to shake some rust off and get better before hunting season. I look foward to the Cold Bow every year, thanks for putting it on!
