I used my HMG Ultamid 4 once by myself and it was very spacious, but I felt like I really didn't need all that extra room just for me. It's not a huge wt. penalty over my lightest solo shelter (something like 46 oz. vs. 11 oz.), so roughly 2 lbs., but again, I felt that it was just kind of big for just one person.

Any of you use a half nest with your tipis to keep bugs, especially ticks off you?

I’ll run my cimarron with a half nest at home on the east coast unless it’s the dead of winter. To many bugs and critters. But hunting out west I’ve never used it and haven’t had any issues.

I’m really debating what to do with my tent situation
Right now I have a Cimarron and a cheap River Country Products Trekker 2.2 (from Amazon… once I seam sealed it, it’s actually a roomy trekking pole tent that weighs just a bit more than 3lb…)

This week the TarpTent Double Rainbow double wall is on sale…
Also this week REI has a good price on the big Agnes Copper Spur UL HV2…
Or buy a nest for the Cimarron and use that if bug protection is needed…

I’ll probably end up doing nothing as I’m probably gonna need buy a new pack…
