Just like Boot Month, Backpack Month, and Camp Month, we’ll be publishing great articles and reviews not to mention some really good giveaways on bows, bullets, packs, arrows, reloading manuals, quivers, broadheads, and even a pack designed for carrying your weapon.

You can learn from Rokslide staff and members what is working, what is not, and what is up-n-coming in the weapons world.  We’ll be launching articles and giveaways weekly so be sure and subscribe to the Rok Blog at “Subscribe to blog” upper right under Fitness/Other links.

For this week, the big news is the giveaway for the Hoyt Carbon bow.  Not only can you win the bow of your choice by participating in the giveaway, you can learn from two of the best in the industry when it comes to setting up and tuning any bow for maximum performance, Matt Davis of Hoyt Archery and Steve Speck of S&S Archery have recorded a killer Podcast that many Rokslide members are already saying is one of the best they’ve heard when it comes to understanding what really makes a bow shoot well.

Robby Denning
Robby Denning started hunting mule deer in the late 1970’s, only missing one season in 35 years. At 25, he gave up the pursuit of all other big-game to focus on taking the best bucks possible. He began hunting the West on a DIY budget hunting an average of 30 days a year for mule deer. Robby loves the hunt as much as the kill and the entire process from research to scouting to hunting. He’s killed four bucks over 200 inches in the last 15 seasons, mostly on easily-obtained tags. He owns a public-land scouting service and runs a private-land outfitting business helping other hunters in their pursuit of deer and elk. Robby has scouted and hunted literally thousands of square miles of mule deer country and brings a wealth of knowledge about these experiences with him. To him, the weapon of choice is just a means-to-an-end and will hunt with bow, rifle, or muzzleloader – whatever it takes to create an opportunity to take a great mule deer. He is also the author of "Hunting Big Mule Deer" available on Amazon. Robby believes all of creation is from God for man to manage, respect, and through which to know its Creator

  1. Your talk with Matt Davis was very interesting. I have checked out the 3rd. axis on the S&S video and used it to help set up my bow. It was neat to hear how he got his job and the variety of positions available. Keep up the good work.

  2. Thanks Rufus, I really liked it too. When they first sent it to me, I was just going to post it in the forums but it was so good, I decided to make it a project with a giveaway as I wanted more people to hear about it.

  3. Great podcast, I believe most people look past 1st and 2nd axis adjustment and go straight to 3rd axis this will help people understand how to adjust all three. Also I would like to here more on how big a role front of center plays in broadhead flight , dr ashby has written quite a bit about this but it is usually read by traditional archers . Thanks for the great info .. Jeff

  4. i did enjoy listening to matt talk about how their new bows – was interesting why they have split limbs for strength
