Hi,

Looking to purchase the Zeiss Conquest HD 10 x 42. Are the eye cups really as bad as some on the internet claim? Many say they are cheap and will break, crack or freeze up after a few years. Is this just internet nonsense?

Thanks

I ran my conquests for 4 years up in Canada and never had an eycup issue or failure. My complaint of them is the eyecups dont have real solid detent settings. A great bino for the price all around though.

I've broken three of them but I will say that Zeiss was great about it and sent me a bunch so I just keep one with me in my kit. I have the Conquest 10x42 and they're fantastic binos for the money. Considering you can get them for way less than what I paid when they came out, it's a pretty outrageous value.

I bought some used Conquest HD 8x42's with cracked eye cups. I called Zeiss to order replacements to make sure I got the correct parts and they sent me a new pair of eye cups for free. Had them in within a few days, simple to replace too.

I wouldn't worry about them.

I did crack one of mine. They were still usable so it would t have ruined a hunt. Zeiss was great about sending new ones out.

If you're still looking for Conquest HD, take a look at the "Demos" on Europtics and Red Hawke Rifles. I got a pair from Europtics for $750 and they look brand new. I don't think they were ever taken out of the box.
