My wife and she refuses to learn even though there is a 68 camaro in the garage and my daily driver is a manual as well.

I have practiced it on a old 4 speed Willys jeep. Like 1940's era. Gotta get a pic posted of it. I haven't tried anything modern that's manual. I drive an automatic now. But I could get by on a stick.

My parents MADE me learn on a manual, and I'm glad they did. When I bought my truck, it was a requirement that it was a manual. The dealer had to do some looking to track one down for me.

Have owned and wheeled/raced several... love my 5 spd but admit for some situations an auto would be nicer.

I only dated one girl who couldn't drive a manual and it didn't last long...

What I want to know is who can drive an un synchronized manual transmission ? I drive one all day in my tractor and did it once in an old english car . I "speed shift " my tractor. I only use the clutch for starting and stopping.

I learned on a stick first and have owned a few since. But whats crazy is I work on different car dealerships everyday pretty much and see very few sticks any more and surprisingly even a lot of the high end sportscars like some porche's are auto now.

I learned before I had a license.

Dad was an alcoholic, so I drove a lot.

Wife doesn't know how.....

I learned before I had a license also. I started stealing my parents car when I was 13. They had to put a clutch in the yota about a month after I started sneaking the car out .

Last time I had to drive one was in the Summer of 1996. Ford Cattle truck, with a 5 speed with High and low range.

Might take me a while to get in the groove again.

i get laughed at but i cant.

not because i am challenged as far as how to do it, but growing up no one in my family owned one and my friends didn't either, at least none that i rode with. i did it once on an old work truck last year, i was getting the hang of it and then it got canned for an automatic. ohwell...

Funny story, i'd just gotten my license and the car my brother and I had to share was a stick. So on the way home, he parks on a hill, in front of a driveway where there's five or six guys playing basketball and tells me that I need to drive home. Fastest way to learn stick - when a bunch of people are staring at you while the car stutters and chugs on a big hill.
