I'm considering contacting Cooper about a custom rifle in .22 LR. I'm just looking for basic info on how that process works with Cooper...ordering...build time...shipping...anything you might know if you've done business with them. Thanks

I have a number of good sources for .22 ammo. I've got rounds stockpiled as well.

I have talked with a couple Cooper.dealers as well as a few folks at Cooper. Ordering will need to happen through a dealer. If it's custom, contact Cooper and tell them what you want and which dealer you are using. Then have the dealer contact Cooper for pricing. I am.sure the dealer will need some money down. Once the order is placed I would expect 6-8 months?? Not sure for the rim fire but that's what I was quoted for centerfire. With SHOT this coming week and Cooper.having a few highly anticipated offerings it may be even longer.

Thanks. So all Cooper orders have to be placed through a Cooper dealer? I simply wasn't sure how their system worked. Obviously has to involve shipment through FFL person or shop.

EDIT: Cooper dealer located 25 minutes from my house. Think I will visit today.

Not sure if they make the Jackson Hunter model in the .22 but I've admired one of those from afar and that model would be quite fitting for you...

Update: I visited my local (new) gun dealer who is a Cooper dealer. You have to understand that I live in rural Ohio and the edge of Appalachia, so well-stocked gun dealers who carry finer weapons basically don't exist here. There was one guy in the store and he was the manager. I told him I was in the market for a Cooper 57M Custom Classic in .22LR. Five minutes later I was examining a custom Cooper Jackson Game in .22-250 which had just arrived. AAA walnut, fluted barrel, spiral-fluted bolt...a few extra niceties. What a superb gun. I was taken by the quality of wood along with the fit and finish. Of course the price goes with the quality at approaching $3k or better. In any event, I got the scoop on the Cooper ordering process and the planning has begun.

Excellent! I have handled quite a few, not so many in wood stocks, and they definitely feel solid in the hands.

There are a couple of major dealers that regularly sell on gun broker.com. You may want to see if they have anything close to what you are looking for. If so, no wait time. The price will be the same either way. One dealer is out of PA I think and the other out of Mich. They have guns listed and say to call for a full list of what they have in store.
