I'm using an SWFA 3-9 (although I may change it to a Vortex Razor LHT 3-15) with a Warne rail and Vortex Low (.87) Precision Matched Rings and the scope is way too high. Any suggestions for good rings that are much lower for this setup or do I need to look at a different rail/mounts as well?

Thank You!

I'd switch the base to Warne steel Maxima bases. They are much lower.

I use then on my X-Bolt .30-06. The little bit of overhang over the ejection port has zero effect on function and was necessary for me to span the long action ejection port with a short scope.

Do you need a rail? I ditched the 20 MOA rail on my HC long range and went to Talleys just for the reasons you mentioned.

I have Tally mediums on my 3 XBolts with 50mm scopes. Lows will work with a 40 or 44 mm scope. Ditched the rail on my XBolt 300 win mag as it was just to high. Now saying that, if you have a Zeiss V4 or similar short tube scope you may not get the scope as far back as you need. My Burris scopes have about 6 inch tubes which gives me planty of room to adjust my eye relief. I have a longer than average LOP.

I really like the looks of these. So you can turn the front mount end for end to put the "overhang" where you want it correct?

Thank You!

Is there a specific model of Tallys? My Xbolt is a 300 WSM.

I had the same problem, but I like the rail. This is from PIG tactical it worked for me.

I just ordered this cheek riser this week. Mine is a 6.8 Western HCS with Zeiss V4 in low Zeiss precision rings on a 20 MOA EGW rail.

BCD just order the Talleys for Browning XBolts they will fit each model. I have a Speed 30 06, Max Long Range 300 win mag and a Western Hunter 28 Nosler. When mounting to your rifle do not over tighten!!!! Browning does not have torque specs for the base. They just say hand tight. I added some locktite and have had no issues. If you need a cheek pad I found the Beartooths work the best. They give you several different thickness pads to get a perfect fit and a neoprene cover. The pads also just sit along the top of the stock and don't push your face away from the stock. I had several other brands that were nice but pushed my face away making it hard to get my eye behind the scope.

I have a bunch of extra pads. If you would like some to play with send me a message and I mail some to you. Then if you like them you can order one with the cover of your choice! I hold them on with blue painters tape to figure out the combination of pads I need. It also makes it easier to pull the cover over them. If you get one I can tell you the trick to make pulling the cover over easy!

Yes. You can turn both front and rear end for end, which is useful if you have to accomodate a short scope.

Both of the rifles pictured are, obviously, long action. The scope on the .30-06 is shorter than the scope on the .270. I originally had the scope on the .30-06 and the scope on the .270 mounted the same way. But the shorter scope on the .30-06 was too far forward without enough tude to slide it back for proper eye relief. So I flipped the front base around and remounted the scope which set the scope back some to the same distance from my eye as the scope on the .270.

The overhang on the ejection port make no difference on function. It ejects perfectly. No case contact at all.

The way it was originally mounted. You can see there is no room left on the tube to slide the scope back in the rings. The scope was too far forward and I had to crawl the stock to get a good site picture

Flipping the front base around allowed me to set the scope further back for proper eye relief.

Browning doesn't publish it but if you call them they'll tell you. I called them for torque specs on my BLR Lightweights and also asked about the X-Bolt. On the X-Bolt, torque is not to exceed 18 inch pounds. 15 inch pounds is entirely adequate with aluminum bases.

I really like this setup but it appears those Warne bases only work with weaver style rings.
