Wyoming Elk Hunt Resident Hunting Partners

I'm a non-resident planning to hunt in WY this year. Is finding a Wyoming resident to hunt wilderness area with a thing on here? Is that frowned upon? Unfortunately I'm not in a financial position to hire a guide.

Best chance would likely being going to WY to hunt this year and make friends with hunters that maybe in the future you can buddy up with.

What if somebody says “yea let’s do it” and backs out last minute or day 2 of the hunt wants to go home.

Where are you located? In all honesty, it is not necessary to hunt in the wilderness. It only expands the amount of land you can hunt. From my experience you will have far more competition in the wilderness areas due to the crazy numbers of outfitters.

I have friends there. There is so much hunting in general areas that are non wilderness that we don’t even bother with it. When I think of wilderness I think of grizzlies, wolves, and cutting all my firewood by hand since chainsaws aren’t allowed. I’ll pass.
