WTB - SMALL BACKPACK - meat pack for the girlfriend

Hey everyone,

Girlfriend is wanting to upgrade to a meat packing backpack for a couple hunts this year -
She is pretty small at around 5'4" and 125lb - and looking for 2-5 days so 3000 cu in approx.

Pretty sure she is not ready to shell out for a top dollar pack yet so ~$200-300 ?
But I'm not in charge of her finances ;-)
I was thinking reg Kuiu frame and small wasitbelt would be a good cheap start

She's horrible at this forum business so I'm trying to help her out, let me know what you've got
and I'll pass it along.

Thanks,
Tobias

Check out llbean hunters carryall pack from llbean. Cheap pack to get her started and get a dry sack for organization.

Thanks Todd,

She already has a nice backpack but is not ready to get it all stained with blood
She wants a hunt/meat specific bag and hoping to start out with something used

I've actually got a Kuiu set up that might work for her, my girlfriend used it in the past and sounds like they are about the same size. Its the Icon pro frame and the ultra 3,000 bag in Verde. It has hip pockets and a rifle sling as well, if that interests you let me know via PM and I can text you some pictures

I bought a kuiu icon pro at Xmas for my son 3000 cubic inch or so. He absolutely loves it. He traveled to Phillipines for 2 weeks, no other luggage than the bag. He loved it a lot, and took as carry on the planes and never had a problem. He just did the 11 1/2 mile hike on the north Shore of kauai for 3 nights and he did have a little shoulder chafing but questioning him it was 80 degrees out and he was shirtless and in a major hurry to get to destination before dark. I have more expensive kifaru frames and pack for myself, but our hunting style we never haul more than 50 pounds out, so I think kuiu may be okay cheaper option for starters. I will review kuiu this fall, when I get a chance. But be patient also as older duplexes and bikinis come up very reasonable priced on this and kifaru forum, and some older exo mountains have been priced very well, because of all new styles that come out each year.

Thanks everyone for the PM's and advice !

For the record I just took my EXO 3500 down to Mexico and it easily fit into the overhead and no issues from the staff.
Even got offered a military discount at Starbucks (which I declined) Another bonus for Multi-cam

Hard to beat an old Dana Design Loadmaster series pack (Shortbed or T1). They come up fairly regularly on ebay. You can often get them for around $100. Change out to a HPG Prairie Belt for another $100 and you have an awesome pack in the price range you are looking for. Take off the bag and you have an external frame to use as you wish. She will love the weight transfer allowed by the wand system.
