will I be cold...sleeping bag question

Sept 17 to 27 hunting elk at 12000 ft in colorado. I have a 35 degree bag and bivy. Somewhat medium to cold sleeper. Used this combo in late august without a problem. Just wondering if im pushing it with this bag

I've used a Marmot 15 degree down bag on those dates and was fine with a bivy. I believe you are pushing the limit of a 35 Degree bag. I would suggest a warmer bag. A zero degree bag would be a good idea.

U will be cold unless it's unseasonably warm. If u get a high R rated pad (above 5) and wear down or primaloft jackets and pants u may get away with it.

I concur....wear a bunch of clothes and puffys unless there is a heat wave. But otherwise you'll be cold...also the wind at 12k can crush you at night...I suggest a tent and a 20 degree or less bag or quilt. But me...I like good sleep. So I carry more weight with my bag\tent\pad\pillow set up and cut where I can else where...the better I sleep...the harder I hunt...I've learned the hard way...

What brand bag? If its a quality made bag with a true rating you will be right on the edge so an additional layer of clothes to sleep in would be a good idea. If its not quality you will likely be miserable at night.

Heat up water, pour in hydro bladder, place in dry bag and place it by your feet.

Most likely unless you’re a warm sleeper. I'd plan on sleeping with some clothes on.

To me I would probably be good but I am an extremely warm sleeper. It all depends on your body and how you react to the cold.

What bag and shelter are you using?

I have used a Marmot Cloudbreak 32* bag with a TiGoat ptarmigan bivy during first rifle (middle of October) here in Colorado around the same elevation. I was fine but I am a warm sleeper and was prolly pushing my luck. Last year I used a Marmot Sawtooth 15* with a TiGoat Raven bivy during first rifle and will be using the same set up again this year for the same hunt.

unless that bivy and bag are being mated with a tarp and a stove id bet you get cold! I have a 20 degree bag and have gotten plenty cold even with extra layers and a tent at that time of the year....

First time I bivied I used a similar bag in nidaho in mid October with no pad......longest night of my life....went home and ordered zero degree Montbell....now sleep very well....if you don't sleep well you don't function we'll...as noted so far would be looking for a warmer bag..always better to have too much warmth than not enough.

All depends on your thermostat. I used a 30 degree bag several years around the same dates and elevations in Co without the bivy and I was never cold. I sleep in just my boxers. I would say you are good to go. One of my hunting partners used a 15 degree bag on the same trips and slept in clothes. Medium to cold sleeper, you are pushing it.
