Hello!

Unsure if this is the best forum for this. But I recently moved to River Falls WI and im looking for a place to shoot longer distances. My local range goes out to 200 yard which isn't bad, but I definitely want to be able to shoot to at least 500. Anyone know anywhere in western WI where can shoot that far?

I'm willing to drive to find somewhere. I've also thought about driving to middle of nowhere northern WI to set up a target myself, but it sounds like that may be legally frowned upon.

Thanks!

The up north thing is only fine for federal land and limited state land but you’re going to have a hard time finding spots to safely shoot any longer than a couple hundred yards.

There is a free one at the Josie creek camp ground in rusk county. Has a pistol range 100 yard range and a 600 yard range. It looks like a 2 + hour drive though. It is a nice free range that has covered shooting benches

Check with some local farmers in the area. I've had good luck in the spring on old bean and corn fields. If there's alfalfa farm roads work.

Any idea if it's open during the winter? I need a few practice sessions before NRL Hunter and it looks like the Eau Claire range isn't open past 100 yards until March
