Who's ready for some whitetail action?

I know most on this forum are dedicated elk/moose/sheep hunters, but many of us hail from the Eastern US where whitetail is king. Who's ready to chase after some big bucks? I've been running multiple trail cams on my lease throughout the spring and summer and things are looking very promising. I have at least 5 different bucks that will go 125-140" on my property. I know that may not be big to some but in my part of North Carolina, those are bruiser bucks. Its got me pretty fired up. I won't be able to hit the woods much until October, due to going elk hunting, but I am still hoping one of these big boys gives me a chance. I would really like to get one of these big boys with my bow. Killed a few in the 130s and 140s with rifle and muzzleloader, but never have been able to close the deal with the stick and string.

I'm also excited at the chance to take my 5 yr old daughter hunting with me. I've set up two large ground blinds in easy to access spots in hopes of getting her out with me a few times and getting her to see some deer, and maybe even shoot one while shes with me.

I just got drawn for a Managed Hunt at Busch Conservation Area in Missouri. There is some argument whether either the largest or 2nd largest non-typical in the state was found dead there a year or two ago. Whatever, all I can say is if I see something with 30 plus points coming at me, I'm going to have difficulty not soiling myself.

Cgeb,That can be a good hunt, what dates did you draw?
I've had a couple of nice bucks come in to my taxidermy shop from there.

Season doesn't open until Sept 24 here in South Dakota, cannot wait until then! Haven't run trail cameras in my areas just because I know there are solid deer around and want to limit activity in those areas since they are public. Saw a lot of boarder line shooters last year and I don't believe the winter was too harsh for them, so I am looking forward to this fall!

Pulled cameras the other day just to see what was going on. Bucks still in velvet in my part of NC and some still in bachelor groups. Bigger bucks are by themselves now. A big buck I was chasing last year finally made his appearance as well. Big 8pt who is 20"+ wide. He gained some mass and tine length this year. I passed 3 bucks in the 115-120" range last year, because I was focused on him. Also had plenty of bears on camera. One sow had 4 cubs! Also have a big boar bear roaming the woods. Probably 350-400lb. Wouldn't mind sticking an arrow in him, but they always disappear when bear season rolls around.

Like the Missouri guys above posted, archery season opens here on Sept 15th.I have been seeing rubs for a week but do not have a hard horn on camera yet. I would love to stick a velvet buck but have never seen one by mid September.Every farm I hunt except one have at least two good bucks on them.Should be a good year.

I'm ready for the Missouri archery season start on 9/15 but probably won't be able to hunt until 9/17. I'm strictly ground blind hunting this year and can't wait to get started. Good luck to everyone and be safe!

Bows are ready but it was high 90's here this week with ridiculous humidity. Can't even think of hunting in this nonsense. We were up the Mntns last weekend and it was Mogadishu dry. We need rain bad. On a more positive note, My son drew an Iowa late muzzy tag. I am keyed in on getting an inline set up for him. My buddy's 2 farms house legit Booners. Already losing sleep over that trip. Hopefully I'll have some killer video for you guys. We leave Christmas night. Best of luck to all.

I've been out twice in Ohio so far. Had 3 does bust me reaching for my bow the first trip out. Nothing this morning unfortunately.

Pulled some cameras and found this guy, I wish he would've held his head up but it looks like he has a lot of character!

Looks to be a pretty solid buck with some character! I've only made one trip to the whitetail woods so far. Saw a couple does and fawns, one small 6pt and a bear. Going to try and slip out for a day or two this weekend. Cameras are telling me that the big bucks I have been after are starting to change their movement patterns.
