Was hunting this morning when a buck comes out at roughly 20 yards. Shot him broadside and was about 20 feet above in a tree stand. I thought I put a good hit on him. Went to the shot sight and had a clean pass through but the arrow was slightly broken and had little blood on it but did have white fur and a strange odor. Followed the trail about 10 yards and found corn in it and immediately pulled out quietly. I’ve bumped deer after shooting them and tracking too early and didn’t want to deal with another lost deer. Did unfortunately have some rain today so hopefully the blood trail will still be there tomorrow after 20 hours. Has anyone had success after shooting a deer and finding undigested food in the blood trail?

If you backed out and did not bump him they usually won't go too far before bedding and he will die. It's gonna be a grid search at this point and you will loose the meat.
