Which stock for varmint rig?

I'm going on a prairie dog hunt later this year and want to change the factory stock on my Tikka .223. I've narrowed it down to these two:

- KRG Echo
- MDT XRS

I've considered most all of the other options and ruled them out for one reason or another. This rig will purely be for coyotes, ground hogs, and prairie dogs. I also use it for plinking out to 450 yds.

Which would you choose and why?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You’ll have fun! I’d get the cheaper one if it meant you could bring more ammo. One of the best memories of childhood was a warm sunny calm day and a big dog town hadn’t been hit by anyone that year - burned through 500 rounds that one day.

Both are similar systems. That said I would probably go with KRG at the $300 price point. I wouldn’t feel I was gaining much for the extra $ for MDT.
Thanks! I was leaning towards the Echo since I have a Bravo on a different rifle. Just wasn't sure about the XRS since I've never held one in person.

I appreciate the reply! This will be my first prairie dog trip and I'm very excited about it. I will definitely make sure that I bring a lot of ammo.

I hate to get people’s hopes up, because on a bad weather spell you may see very few, but a bad day out there is better than a good day inside. It’s like fishing - the good days are the only ones we remember. Lol

I don’t haul 500 rounds a day around, but I do pack 200, and if it’s a good day a 22 mag or 17 HMR gets used a lot so 200 rounds of rimfire makes sense. After 200 shots I’m worn out. If you’ve ever wanted a 17 HMR, or know of one to borrow, it makes an ideal close range gun to at least 150 yards.

It’s funny, I’m excited for you. Lol

I am thinking hard about getting a 17 hmr for the trip and also for ground hogs on my property. It flew under my radar for years but a friend recently recommended I look into it. I will consider your vote as the deciding factor then.

Besides, no one ever had to twist my arm to get me to buy another gun. Haha

The trajectory is really good with that little thing!
