Which Puffy Vest

I am looking for a packable puffy vest of some sort to go under my soft shell. I was planning on the new First Lite and I couldn't believe how short it was. I have also tried the Eddie Bauer Field and Microtherm and neither were warm enough for my liking. I am 6'5" and only 33" inseam, so I have a long torso. The Eddie Bauer talls fit great and all other First Lite gear is just long enough. I tried on the Sitka Kelvin Lite and it is warm and is close enough that it just may work. If anyone has any suggestions or experience with other long puffy vests I'd love to hear about it.

Second the Kelvin. I also have Simms primaloft vest that is very lightweight and warm for its weight. It layers under most any outer wear with out an issue

I'm looking at the FL vest myself but I generally run so hot I'll likely use it when I stop and glass for a bit then take it off when on the move again. Added bonus is it makes a decent little pillow when stuffed into its pocket.

If you are weari it underneath another layer, my north face Phantom? I think it's called vest at 800 fill is one of the warmest things I've ever worn.

I never thought about Simms. How is the length/fit in comparison to the Kelvin Lite?

The puffy jacket fits me great, but the vest is significantly shorter and a little too bulky in the torso. Looking for a vest to add warmth to the north branch for late season. Tried the puffy jacket under the north branch and it was super warm, but too tight.

I've currently got a rocky primaloft vest that's warmer than I expected it to be for the size/weight but is a little short for my liking. I've got a fairly long torso as well 21.5-22" and the Rocky just barely works. I picked it up for like $30 bucks so it's served me well but after 2 seasons some of the Primaloft is starting to find its way out of the lining. I'll be looking to upgrade so some of the suggestions here are helpful to me as well. Thanks for starting the thread.

Well I am 5'7 with a little belly and fairly large chest it sure isnt' long on me! I really think it fits me really good, I would have to double check the size it is. My first lite Unc is size large, little big but guessing I a medium would be tight

Love my Patagonia Down vest... color choice can be hard but if you look around you can find a good neutral color

Good price and I know people have said it's a good value, but if it isn't even long enough for the guy in the picture it certainly won't be for me.

Anyone try the Kryptek vest?

I really like the Sierra designs vest. Warmest and lightest I have ever used. Dry down and I think it is 800 fill. The sleeves look kind of funny for a vest but work very well. I sleep in mine and hardly notice it except for the warmth. I personally really like the quarter zip as I don't rollover on an uncomfortable zipper when I'm sleeping, and it saves on weight. I know some people only want a full zip, so just an FYI. I wear a size medium in first light and ordered a size medium in the sierra designs vest if I were to buy again I would probably get a large. For what it's worth I'm 5'11" and 165.

Anyone know if there was any difference (other than color) in the older version of the Kelvin Lite that is available in Lead, vs this year's version which is Pyrite? (40% off for the older version)

I just picked up the Kratos vest for $35. The fit is a lot like my KUIU stuff and goes under the Guide jacket perfect. I haven't had it out in the field just yet but I wanted to replace my down jacket that was a lil bit too puffy :)

I have the Kelvin vest, jacket and pants...nice and toasty but noisy unless under a soft shell. But then again, I'm a bowhunter and gotta get close enough for that to matter.

It sure looks plenty long enough for the guy in the pic. How do you wear your vests and jackets......covering your ***? I really prefer a shorter mid-layer so it's not hanging out below my outer layers. And most my outer layers probably ride higher than they do on the guy in the pics.
