In Utah there are no sheep tags for Non Res that go to max point holders. All go to the random draw. Gotta put in!

Thanks for the info, I believe I can amend my choice until Wednesday and my do that. One point is a long shot but it like you said you can't win without your name in the draw.

Ya, if you're putting in for sheep there's no point in putting in for points only in any state

Nevada Is a no brainer there is more nonresident desert bighorn sheep tags than just about all the other states combined. They also have California bighorns and rockies. If you are going to apply in Nevada you might aswell apply for all tags or atleast get bonus points and then when you have the funds apply for actual tags. You will already be buying the $142 license and there is only application fees to apply. Plus you can draw a great tag in Nevada with no points. It only took me 6 years to draw my desert sheep tag and this year will be my first year back in the draw after the 10 year waiting period.

Nevada is your best chance at drawing a desert, non-res can't put in for rockies btw

If you asked me id say your priorities are a little off.....

Draw a tag then worry about a schedule later.

This! I put in for any and every hunt I think I may want someday. You never know when you will draw and when you do that becomes your priority. I would move my wedding date if I drew a sheep tag because there is no guarantee you will ever draw it again, unless you were the top point holder in a state that gives the tags to those people.

My wife and I moved to Utah from Wisconsin. My parents came to visit during the deer season but my wife and I did not have tags. We decided to get married while my mom was there. Now my wife and I spend our anniversary deer hunting. ;)

I can't really help on where to put in for points. A while back I went though the "sheep" states and pulled the total number of permits issued just for giggles. The data is a bit dated, but still close enough to see what odds you're up against. Points, persistence, what ever... not my game.

Here's a break down of permits. Some of these states have 8,000-10,000 NR applying for a handful of permits. Also if I recall I think the totals were for rams only (sorry I pulled these a couple years ago don't remember. I also updated a couple with current info i.e. MT and NM)...

I'm trying to decide whether to start WY or not.. I'm pretty behind.. It was only recently that I realized how many tags they gave out

I guess it depends if that bill gets passed that will heavily cut NR tags! I have a year to find out if it does...

I'm in the same boat here. Wyo is one of the best states for non-res chances, but even still if you're just starting out, like I would be, you're still oh-so-far behind. If the bill doesn't get passed I think I will start donating my money in hopes that one day, just maybe...

"You can't play if you don't pay" rings true as always. :) but at the same time :(

Ya, if it doesn't pass by September I'll just pick up a point this year and start putting my name in the hat next year..

Is there a deadline for when they're supposed to pass it? Or do you say by september because that's when the points only period goes till?

That's the deadline for points only.. I think the draw was over in February?

Have no idea when/if the bill will be passed.. I remember reading about it in January
