What are guys using these days? Anything new out there?

I have 3-4 old "Block" brand dense foam targets that have held up well over 6-8 yrs but finally all getting shot out. 90% field point use, and a few times per year broadhead...compound bow only.

If I was gonna pony up and buy a new Target.. I’d either get a 365 36” or a Matrix.

Or just buy a morrel bag target and call it a day

I have a 48" 365 with the 5 cubes. It holds up well to 3 of us shooting most of the year. I like that multiple people can shoot at the same time at different "targets". I don't shoot broad heads at it. I buy something on sale just for that purpose.

I don’t think there’s a better broadhead target than the matrix.

A cheap bag target is the way to go for field points.

I’m actually going to try and pick up some excelsior bales. Put a metal band around it or some kind of system to squeeze it tighter. Had one a long time ago and it lasted for many years. They get tighter when they get wet so they are perfect for outside. For
broadheads I just use a block target. I only shoot broadheads about 3-4 weeks before hunting season starts and once everything is dialed in then I don’t shoot broadheads again till I’m shooting at an animal.

My Matrix target has worked great for many years. Arrow’s are easy to pull. I shoot both field tips and a fair amount of broadheads through out the year. Usually replace one cube per year which is pretty amazing.

The Block targets are complete garbage. The inside layering is terrible and barely stops my arrows. If you're low energy and standard diameter they might work.

Best bang for your buck is the Delta McKenzie Big 8 XL. It's the same material as a Sevr target (same company). These have a replaceable center section for $60 or less and makes them easily repairable. I get them on clearance/blemish sale usually. I have two and have had three Sevr targets. I shoot A LOT of broadheads. These work great.

Rhinehart has a few good ones as well.

My experience is the following

Block target is Ok for the money but doesn't hold up long term, the one I bought is now my designated broadhead target because I don't mind tearing it up.

cheap bag targets are great as long as you bring them in after each session or have it covered, but all mine are out in the elements and within 3-4 mon this of rain it does something to the substrate inside and arrows become VERY difficult to pull (disclaimer, I'm shooting 4mm with outsert, so if youve got an arrow with a consistent OD it will probably pull a lot easier.)

My absolute favorite are Morrell, I'm sold and use the high roller as my primary target. hold up well to occasional broadheads, but I mostly stick to field points. They are pricey, but they pull super easy and last longer than anything except for a rhinehart.

Rhinehart are extremely durable (maybe the most durable on the market?) but the arrows pull so hard it's a dealbreaker for me. I don't want to have to struggle and stand on my target just to have to pull the arrow. If you don't mind that, it'll last a long time.

I have a Bulldog for field points and a Cabela’s block for broadheads.
The bulldog is awesome, they have a lifetime warranty, just pay shipping and they send you a new cover. They have decent sales a few times a year as well

I built my own broadhead target and have an Arrolast for field tips. I have a few blem Rinehart 3D targets also.

I like the high roller by morrell and the 18-1 by rinehart. Depending on what arrow you’re shooting, the 18-1 can be tough to pull but victory arrows seem to pull out of it fine. Easton axis were a nightmare with those targets. I’ve also got that backyard rinehart mule deer target I like a lot. I like practicing on a deer more than dots if I can help it

Maxhunter,

Curious how many arrows it takes to wear that foam out. I’ve threatened to make my own countless times, but never have.

The club I shoot at uses those arrolast targets. Seems like it would take one guy with field points decades to wear one out.

I got a 36” 365 target last year. It’s held up awesome so far. Would highly recommend. Probably have about 1500 arrows into it and it is still in great shape.

So far my 365 has been great, I’ve replaced the insert multiple times as I shoot daily and shoot lots of broadhead in the summer. The matrix has my interest as well.

Anyone run the Delta Mckenzie predator target, wonder how long the replaceable center lasts

I’ve got 3 bag targets, one I’ve had for 20 plus years. I’ve put a couple new covers on it and added some fill but they’re my go to for field points

I’ve also got a rinehart 18-1 that’s over 15 years old. It’s had a ton of arrows shot at it including a lot of broadheads and it’s still a good target. It’s basically my take to camp target and broadhead target at this point

If I wanted to try something new I’d probably go with a matrix or sevr
