I have no idea what pack it is but it looks miserable ! No lift and looks like all the weight in the bottom.
Why MR designs a hauler pack that is only 20" tall frame when most torsos are within 2" of that is beyond me.
As for how it's loaded.......I often have mine loaded to where it's less than pleasing to the eye so can't fault a guy for that. Heck I used MR for over two years so that shows how smart I am.
In all fairness Luke im sure you were using the 6500 at least. Little more lift on those.
I was most of the time...though I did haul a caribou out 12 miles with just the load sling and the NICE frame.....SUCK!
6500 actually does have enough lift IMO for truly heavy loads, but their waistbelt doesn't fit me as well as a Kifaru, SG, or even a Paradox.
Ol Luke... I think he is testing out Kifaru packs now.
I love my Metcalf, as long as the lift kit is on, but I have a short torso too!
Yeah...that's an MR Metcalf II. I took this picture myself while on a bivy hunt...so what you are seeing in the picture, was not necessarily how I had the pack set up on the way up the mountain (the day pack lid was used for one). I've used MR packs for several years and have always been happy; but I'll admit that I've yet been able to get this Metcalf set up comfortably. I've been blaming it on old injuries and and nerve damage, but have finally decided to try another pack system in an attempt to answer that question. What could it hurt?! But in the pack's defense, there are a lot of people that are perfectly happy and claim to be comfortable. Everyone is built differently and to each his own.
I wonder if they will make him look taller
The man, the myth, the legend Glad to see you here Lukey!
Looks like the latest version of the MR Metcalf. Definitely could have been loaded better
