I'm debating very hard on getting a new pack. The review on the Stone Glacier and Kifaru is great but I have a hard time spending that kind of loot without trying the product. Looking for an extended stay, back country pack. Good advice will be appreciated. Just an explaination on your choice and why or why not.

Thank you

I have had the t2 and it was a good back. I love the duplex. The thing handles weight like a dream and is like a Lego. I can set it up so many different ways from hauler to daypack to multi day hunt. It easily my favorite. I went with the regular duplex vs the bikini because I wanted the frame sheet to keep stuff off my back. I've already hauled a double bull blind and various other object that have made me thankful for the regular duplex. I have the cargo panel, back pouch, and dt1 to go with it. Also it carries my 14 long range hunting rifle like a dream with an eberlestock scabbord

To be completely honest, I could sort of care less on the pack layout, whether it has pockets, top loader etc... some of those things are nice to have a certain way so they are handy and what not. But I own a t2 a dt2 and have a Bikini Highcamp 7000 coming and a stone glacier solo coming. With that said the Kifaru suspension, comfort and durability you can't go wrong. If you are coming from a traditional thought process of I need 16+ pockets and places to put my tooth brush I would lean towards a Bikini frame and timberline 2 or 1 bag depending on your needs, length or stay, gear etc... Or a duplex. I just think I am going to like the bikini better.

I'm a bit different. Pack layout matters greatly to me. I used to always be digging in a main compartment bag, making noise, losing things, etc. So, on the bag - I'm a timberline lover. I don't like a one main bag, clean set up like the highcamp or stone glacier. I get why some guys might it's just not for me. I like the exterior pockets for small items and the large side pockets for spotter and tripod (or stove and jacket when not carrying the tripod/spotter). I know some guys will say you can put pockets on the high camp or SG but I never got that as then it just becomes a Timberline. Anyway I have a T2 and I have no real complaints about it. Got a BT1 (gonna put it on a diet this weekend) this year but have yet to really load it up. Used to have a Duplex frame and thought it was great - got rid of that to shave some weight and at times regretted it. I'm betting the Bikini frame is the love child of the Duplex and the original Timberline and that will make me happy, happy.

Big fan of the XTL lid but trying out a long hunter this year. I think the long hunter may be more functional it just doesn't look as cool.

Camo - T2 multicam, BT1 Highlander. Because they look cool. No functional advantage.

I like the "traditional" kifaru packs. The Longhunter, Late Season, etc. Basically one big bag. I prefer that over a pack with alot of packs. I really like the bikini high camp combo. You can't go wrong with any kifaru pack really. They are kinda different tools for different things. I like using my Late Season as a day pack. Use my Longhunter Duplex for heavy loads and multi day trips. Bikini/Highcamp for extended trips and day use.!

They all have their place. I own 3 right now. Including a HC/bikini, spike camp, and E&E (if you consider it a pack). Also have owned a t1.

My favorite out of the 3 right now is the spike camp, and E&E. Probably because its summer and that is what is being used right now. My E&E gets used almost daily for mountain biking, trail running or going to the gym. And it will be sitting on top of my HC(as a lid) come fall when I have all my time off for serious backpacking and hunting.

I still think the spike camp with 30lbs in it is the most comfortable pack I have ever owned.
