There is a bill in the Washington state house that would direct WDFW to create a wolf sanctuary on Bainbridge Island. I assume this isn't a joke, but I wonder what the good people of that fairly populated island will think if the state relocates problem wolves in their backyard. I will be real surprised if this makes it out of committee, but if you live in the Evergreen State you might want to review and comment.

HB 1639

It also makes it nearly impossibly to lethally remove problem animals. Check out page 3. Has to be 2 confirmed kills of children by a wolf before it’ll be put down. That’s pretty nuts.

Edit: reading about it more, it’s an eastern Washington legislator messing with western WA. Knowing full well Seattle loves wolves, as long as they’re far far away.

Yep. Pretty funny. Three republican sponsors on this one, and the wording in the bill...”majestic creatures.”

Correct, it’s an E. WA legislator messing with the west side. For those that don’t know Bainbridge Island, it’s due west of Seattle across the Puget Sound. Very affluent and ritzy area. It’s pretty funny, but our state of affairs here is actually pretty sad.

They tried this same bill a couple years ago. Did not get out of committee. But I would contribute gas money if it did.

When I was working/guiding out of Cody, Wyoming, my favorite T-shirts were the ones that read....

"REINTRODUCE THE WOLF TO CENTRAL PARK."

and

"REINTRODUCE THE GRIZZ TO Washington, D.C."
