VPA for elk?

I have 150 grain 1 1/8" 2 blade heads, and also 1 1/4 150 grain 3 blade heads.

Has anyone used either of these on elk? If so how did they perform for you?

I've used them when shooting a recurve and longbow and loved them. I wished they made them in Deep Six heads I would definitely be shooting them. I never did get to shoot an elk with one but I had several pass thru sticking in the ground shots on deer with a 41lb longbow the last few I hunted with traditional equipment but bad shoulders forced me to go back to a compound this year. I'm sure you'll have no problem with them on elk whatsoever. Plus I love that they hold a super sharp edge and are easy to get scary sharp. Good luck.

I have shot two bulls with the same 100gr vented head. Both times it did well, and I was able to clean the head off and shoot it again. Keep it sharp, put it in the right spot, and it will do it's job.

VPA's are a lot better made than the original Wensel Woodsman that I used to kill this elk with a puny longbow.



You will be fine with either. Make sure they are sharp.

Of the two, I would shoot the 3 blade. Better blood trails.

I shoot the 125 grain non vented heads. I love them. Not only do they get scary sharp but they are very tuff heads.

VPA is a very good head! Woodsmans Elite are also very tough & have taken several elk with them. 3 blade over 2 blades offer better blood trails. Shot placement & razor sharp heads should be your main focus! Both heads will do the job!

I have the 125 grain and love them! I can get them insanely sharp. Just wish they flew well out of my set up. They would be my go to head with out a doubt. In a trad bow, they are perfect I think.
