vortex HD 8x32 vs 10x42 binos

Thank you guys, I went into Cabela's and tried out the 10x42 and 8x32 diamondbacks. I did like them. Honestly, I didn't try out the vipers cuz I didn't want to be ruined because it is outside of my budget for the foreseeable future lol.

I think I will start off with 8x32s. I really like the idea of it being lightweight, I feel like I could hold it much steadier and I think I'll be still hunting. I figure, I can upgrade years later down the road and throw one in the vehicle as a backup.

I guess I underestimated the importance of chest harness, does anyone have any recommendations for a budget harness?

Also, I use OnX on my phone, should I avoid any with magnets then?
For my 10x42s I use the Kuiu bino harness. It has my rangefinder attached as well as my phone and scent checker. It is great for sitting ag field edges.
While I’m still hunting with my 8s I use a paracord with the guts taken out that has a plastic cord lock on it so I can adjust to just the length of the paracord up under my chin and it’s easy to use one handed.
I don’t like a bino chest harness while still hunting. It is just too much and is restrictive and gets in the way for me.

This is were I got the idea from for my 8s and paracord

Another option is the Rick Young harness which I have but don’t really use….

This should fit the bill for a good budget harness.

I got a pair of diamond back hd 8x32s today and tried them out in the national Forest. They were great, I appreciate all the insight and recommendations!

Awesome!!

I have the same ones. I paired them up with the rick young harness. I wanted light and easy. I love it. The rick young harness is also pretty inexpensive.

Good luck this year!

I honestly prefer 10 or 12x binoculars. If you watch eBay you can usually find a decent price on a used pair.

Glad you went this route, they will serve you much better than a 10X by a long shot in Northern Idaho or any thick cover for that matter.

I would recommend the DB 8x42 rather than the 8x32 or the 10x42. The 8x42 will be brighter in low light and probably the best of the DB binos.
