Vipers vs Razors?

Really whats the diff in quality from those that have played with both? 10x42s.

New Razor is lighter.

The Razor has (IMO) better edge to edge clarity.

I have and use both!

The Razor has a significantly wider FOV.

I used the Vipers and found their focus a bit loose and image a bit muted.

The newer Razors HDs are much better based on my experience in the field. Compare them side by side at a big box store. Side by side I did notice a difference in image quality across the field. The focus is less slippery too.

I would add to what is above that the overall build quality is a step above too, more similar to other very high-end optics. They are a magnesium frame versus a fiberglass composite frame for the Vipers. Feel like a precision instrument to me.

The Razors are the better unit, but the Viper HD is no slouch, for the price they would be very hard to beat in the optics world. The above mentioned comments are not really noticeable between the two, it would take a hunter going back & forth between them for quite some time to see any real world difference. Both units weigh the same. The low light capability is what really separates these two units, the Viper HD does very well but the Razors will buy you 8-10 minutes of better/clearer viewing from my testings. Either pair will not let you down, if monies are not an issue the Razors would be my choice & they are what I do use.
