I shot this bull last Friday. We rode about an hour from the trailhead and spotted the elk within 10 minutes of glassing. They were below us at 715 yards when I first ranged them. I took the shot at 748 yards when this bull came into a clearing. I shot him with my 270 WSM built by Longshot Custom Rifles. I am shooting the Matrix 165 VLDs. It hit him high and a little back but it worked out ok. My mom had a tag too and I tried getting her a shot but it didn't work out with getting another one. They were directly east and the scope was washing out in the sunlight pretty bad. It was a good time out in the hills.
