So I know there’s tons of threads on 525 vs 725 — but it almost always seems to focus on sporting models.
i purchased a Citori hunter grade 1 in 12 gauge, largely in part because it has a 2 1/2 inch drop which fits my taller lankier frame perfectly. Was once told when you find an o/u that fits, stick with it. So I bought a hunter grade 2 in 28 gauge that I got a good deal on. I wasn’t crazy about the weight but the price was right.
to the point…
the 12 gauge is a bit heavy. And honestly hunting over a decent pointing dog I find a 20 is plenty of gun. And because who wouldn’t turn down the reason to get another gun… I thought the 725 feather would be perfect in 20 (with the pistol grip not the straight stock). But I’ve heard it’s a very different shooting gun, in that it shoots flatter…and sure enough the drop is less than the standard 2 1/2.
I do see the Citori has a feather lightning with a more POW style grip…but I did like the idea of keeping the same grip and dimensions across the gauges.
for those that shoot a 725 and 525…and noticeable differences for upland purposes? Thoughts on the above?
id take a 525 hunter all day long if they made it in feather and closer to 6 pounds…
