Unit 54 Colorado

I’ll start off by saying I’m not looking for someone’s honey hole but any helpful info would be appreciated. We are making our second trip into the West Elk Wilderness this fall but this time we will be doing a drop camp with bar diamond ranch ( dellis ferrier)
On our first hunt we hunted on the south edge of the soap basin and we saw elk but was not successful. This trip we will be near sheep lake so any info would be nice.

I’m confused by what you’re asking. It’s a drop camp so you’ll be secluded to a 2-3 mile area. What are you looking for? Your outfitter should be able to answer most questions. Find out where he’s dropping you then start searching google for elky looking areas.

I thought on a drop camp the outfitter would be giving you the guidance that you need. Maybe not hunt directly with you but they should be helping you.

Only our second time elk hunting so I’m still learning and I wasn’t sure how much info the outfitter would give out since it’s a non guided trip. Thanks I’ll be sure to pick his brain then

I have never done a hunt with an outfitter, but im sure they will be able to help you much more than I can. Good luck on your hunt and have fun.
