Hey guys,
My original plan was to just get points for WY this year. Do you know if I can purchase a Cow/Calf Elk tag at the reduced price of $288 for a NR and still purchase a preference point? Do I have to purchase a regular OTC full price tag first? I was under the impression all NR had to enter the draw.....If I can get a cow tag for $288...I'm looking at unit 54....It sounds like a good opportunity to potentially put some meat in the freezer and still build my points up for a relatively inexpensive price.....I'm looking at the 54-6 Tag which I believe is 1-31 Oct Rifle tag.

When are you going? Might be best for late season, 54 looks like mostly lower country. Find out when the elk move in that unit.

Season is 1-31 Oct. I will probably go early and then back if necessary. I think most of the heard is to the west in the mountains. I just started researching. I'm trying to figure out if an ATV would be helpful. I would rather not use one but if everybody else is on one it may be useful....I have mixed feelings on it. I wouldn't mind meeting up with some guys. I've never hunted in Grizzly country before and don't know how I feel about spike camping alone. I'll have my truck camper at whichever trail head I guess but I don't want to do just day hunts. I'd rather stay out if I can.
