Unit 17 archery second elk hunt

Hey yall,
I drew a 2nd season archery elk tag in unit 17 of New Mexico. I hear this is a great unit for a trophy but from what I read on go hunt the harvest rate is super low. I have had a lot of trouble finding someone that has actually hunted it.
Any talk would be much appreciated. I will probably never draw a tag like this again in my lifetime!

Welcome to Rokslide. You should take an opportunity to look around a bit and you'll find this community is pretty awesome.

Now unfortunately we aren't letting FNG's (new guys) post up unit specific questions. Any unit question/answers remain out in the world wide webs forever, which can doom some really great spots.
