Unit 032 NV Mule Deer

It's also been a long time since I've hunted there. The unit used to be one of the top units. The genetics are there. I'm not sure what's happened but you don't hear much about it anymore. Getting a hold of the biologist would be the best bet to find out more about the deer ratios.

I hunted 032 Archery in 2017. Was very disappointed. I've successfully hunted the general area in Oregon and Nevada with bow and arrow for 35 years but never got up into the Pine Forest until then. I backpacked in to a likely basin. I found one single 3 pt in 3 days. I walked out and tried several other areas, Nothing but does. When the Oregon season opened up the next weekI drove over to the Trout Creeks and took a buck on the first day.

Not sure what's going on here. I'd have been too lucky to have just stumbled upon the best buck pasture on my first trip, but I have NEVER gone into a great basin range and not found a nice group of bucks. Lots of antelope up at 7000 ft plus.

Really nice country though:

If you're already going to be in the area, bring a fly rod and get some action at Knott Creek.

Onion and blue lakes for that matter! I joked into blue lakes a few years ago and they were extremely low. This was before our big moisture events and I hope they have got more water in them now. Pretty cool place.

I will echo what Pueblo said. In fact he and I shared some info in 2017 because Inhad a pronghorn tag and my brother had a muzzy tag. Its a hunt. Low numbers of bucks. I spent nearly two weeks in the unit over a scouting trip and 2nteips for my tag. I saw one spike muley in that time. I was hunting mostly midelevation.

My brother spent 5 or 6 days hunting, and saw less then 10 bucks in the high country.

One mature 3 point and a cactus buck. The rest were dinks.
