I don't see a lot of talk about this and I don't know why. Who is using these and are you having any problems? I'm finishing up an Origin build in 300PRC and it's DBM only with a 3.85" cutout. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of AICS mags or anything that hangs out of the bottom. Call me simple, or old fashioned but I like a good BDL. Regardless, I'm using an Origin which is DBM only.

I was thinking I was stuck with AICS mags I was so pleasantly surprised when I ran across the UM DBM and Mag setup. What a great idea to maximize COAL to 3.8" on most actions while retaining a low profile. The ability to go even longer with an action that is cut out to 4" with the XL mags is even better.

Why aren't more people talking about these and using these? I understand the price is a tad bit higher than a typical Hawkins but it's not that much more. The mag release button position alone is worth that to me. Is there something I'm missing? Are most people not trying to get the max COAL that they can possibly have? Maybe that's just a reloader thing but I think a lot of us do that anyway.

UM, if you read this, it would be super cool to offer the bottom metal in a lefty version with the mag release on the left side. The only other thing I could think of would be to offer different size spacers similar to Hawkins for shortening the OAL if you want to use a different cartridge but don't want to buy a medium action. Other than that, it seems to be a perfect design IMO. That's all said without actual hands on yet but I don't expect to be disappointed.

I have one on my 338 Norma Mag Improved. It functions and feeds slick as snot.

Be advised though that your action still has to have a 4” load port even with the 3.8” mags. They just use a thicker material in the mag body to make the internal dimension shorter.

The actual BM still has to fit in a 4” load port.
