Ultralight Adjustable Tarp/Tipi Guyline

Nice tip. There are other knots that you can use to make things more simple. Check out a tautline hitch which I think is a common knot for guy lines.

I can't believe I have never used that hitch. How secure is it without a load?
Either knot's holding ability is determined by the number of loops used in the knot.
The more loops, the more leverage camming that occurs.

That said I've not seen the Prusik Knot used like that....I'll have to give it a try.

I've never seen a prusik used like that either. I don't see the benefit over a taut line hitch though, because you have to carry extra prusik loops plus the actual guy lines, and a pen too. I will use a prusik setting up a tarp over a ridge line.
