I’ve searched here for this topic, can’t find anything so perhaps I’ll finally add something of value to this forum that’s helped me so much.

Looking for a quality compact handgun case, maybe the 3rd time is the charm. This is a lesson I thought I knew…buy the right one the first time because buying inexpensive stuff is often more expensive than buying quality once.

First, I probably fly w/my EDC P365xl 4x/yr. Both cases have been garbage, lock doesn’t reliably catch on either one. The tumblers on my current case also stick to the point that I’m afraid I’ll have to break the case to get it open at some point. I don’t want one that requires a key because I’ll lose it, so some sort of combination lock and ideally integrated in the case itself for the same reason- I lose stuff.

Sidebar, AirTag on wallet and keys. I’ve even got a stupid AirTag and big glow in the dark rubber band for cash, the band is for pocket grip, wrapped around my money clip. This was about a $1500 lesson, fell out of my pocket a year ago at the ball field, probably when getting in my truck but no idea- l seem to often learn the hard way.

The latest one is the one linked.

Do you have one that you particularly like?

Here’s my current brand, can’t tell if this is the exact size, mine may be smaller but it looks the same:

I’m sure I can manage to find a decent one on my own but can’t hurt to ask, maybe helps someone else too.

I’d like to piggy back on this and ask as well the procedure for checking a handgun for air travel. I’m a pro with both rifle and bow but will be bringing a pistol to AK for the first time this fall. I’m assuming you can put the locked pistol case inside your larger checked bag?

Not an integrated lock, but I use a Pelican 1170 case if I'm just flying with my pistol. link

You could use something like these locks to secure it without a key. link

There's no way I am putting a TSA accessible lock on my firearm case. I need to be the only one with access to be able to open the case.

@Steve O, correct. You can just put your locked case inside of your checked bag and only the pistol case needs to be locked.

I use the cheap plastic cases that the pistol came in…with a padlock.

Its packed inside my luggage.

What good is an expensive case going to do? If someone is going to steal it, they’re just going to steal the whole case and everything.
