I'm a trad bowhunter who has been hunting in Alaska every year since the mid-70's. Since I bequeathed my moose/caribou SuperCub ridge to my brothers in the PBS I want to try and return to my roots - whitetail hunting. Definitely want to find an outfitter with an excellent reputation. My expectations are realistic - all I'd want and expect would be a reasonable chance to drop the string at close range on a quality animal. I absolutely will not consider a high-fence type of hunt. Nice lodging, well-managed population focusing on taking only mature deer, well-run, excellent assortment of stands/blinds, good pre-season scouting, etc. I'd like to stay and hunt more than the "normal" 4-5 days so I can look over more animals. While cost might play a factor it's way down the list of things I'm concerned about. I live in the NW corner of Washington state and would expect to travel to the midwest or?
Anyway, any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance for your input.
