I'm having the same issue on on a AG composite stock. What pic rail adapter did you end up going with?

Same issue on a Rokstok. Even took out the factory swivel stud spacer that came on the stud, but the stud bottomed out in the stock before getting snug to the stock. I don't want to force it and bust through the back of the stock and into the barrel channel. A spacer between where the pic adapter and the nut connect, or just have the nut extension further before bottoming out on the stud rod could both be easy fixes...

I tried this exact one on a bergara stock and it didn’t work either.
