Tricer releasing a new tripod, the HK. Looks like it has the potential to be a great shooting and glassing setup with the DZ head that’s also lightweight to use in the backcountry. Struggling to find a setup to both shoot from and put my spotter on. Anyone lay hands on the HK yet at a show?

Ope. Ordered.
Similar form factor to the leofoto 282cmx that I like (good enough to shoot off)
The Tricer is lighter and taller. Accomplished by thinner tube walls. So probably more wobbly by a touch. Better if primarily glassing, but good enough for shooting possibly. We'll see. An inverted 3 section tripod at this price is a winner no matter what if you ask me.

Leofoto 282CMX
30" collapsed
47" extended
2 section INVERTED LEGS
2.7lbs
10x carbon layers

Tricer HK
26" collapsed
60" extended
3 section INVERTED LEGS
2.6 lbs
8x carbon layers

I would love to hear how it turns out. I don’t ever plan on shooting standing with a tripod, but many times a kneeling shot to get over the prairie grass that a prone shot won’t allow for would be what I’m looking for. Or hunting bears in the mountain. Primary use for it is to glass and would need something to shoot up to 300 yds kneeling which I think this will do. I’d love an RRS but the price is just not in my budget and those are a completely different system than these lightweight setups.

Are you running the DZ head on it when your HK arrives?

I have the leofoto MA30L head which I dont plan to change due to weight and stability

If seated/kneeling shooting is what you seek, the 282cmx is good to go. Others offer that too

My main interest in the Tricer HK is that it will be shootable up to kneeling AND is tall enough for standing glassing

Acceptable standing shooting would be a bonus attribute. The 282cmx accomplishes that barely, which is good enough for me

Got my HK kit in the other week. Tripod feels super solid overall. Not really loving the leg angle locks. The head is rock solid and locks up tight, and the rifle saddle is pretty nice.

I’m probably gonna sell it. ended up being a bit too long for hunting, which was the main reason I bought it.

What diameter is the largest leg section if you don’t mind?

Update to the above post. I received the Tricer HK and compared to the Leofoto 282CMX.

The Tricer HK collapses shorter, extends taller, is a couple ounces lighter, and in my rudimentary testing it was the same (possibly a little more) stiffness as the Leofoto

The Tricer leg locks are also correct, right handed threads to the user which I was really pleased to discover.
In contrast, the Leofoto's threads are lefty-tighty, righty-loosy which was annoying

I sold the Leofoto and am keeping the Tricer.

I told RRS this is what I want but was willing to wait to have American Made instead of Chinese. They quickly and politely responded offering up their inverted options and offered to pass along my feedback to their engineers for consideration. If they make this, I would be inclined to support American but I know others have asked them for this very setup and been turned down. Very glad Tricer has read the market well and I look forward to getting one since they are meeting the demand.

Has anyone had a chance to shoot from the HK? Thoughts?

Is it possible to run this with an Anvil 30?
have not shot yet
All I did was change my old tripod for this one so I cannot imagine there will be any surprises

Anvil 30 can be mounted with the 3/8 stud coming out the top. I blue loctited my china anvil and slammed it tight using the rifle as a lever

there is also a trio of set screws on the tripod that could be jammed into the base of the head potentially. Pic of bottom attached

Thanks for the pics that helps.

I’m curious about the stability at full height since this one is a foot taller. Good enough to shoot from confidently at full height? The HK looks to come in at similar weight and max height to the RRS TFCT-14L but with advantage inverted legs and only 3 sections. Oh, and much more affordable…

My personal philosophy of use is to have it lighter weight, standing glassability, and seated/kneeling shootability.
Standing shootability in a pinch is just a small bonus that I don't expect to use if I can help it.
If standing shooting were of primary importance, I would get something beefier and heavier since they readily exist

That said, I expect its capable of 2 moa standing accuracy if the shooter is. which would be fine for me.

I will try it out with the .223 and follow up with results

Yea I'm leaning toward your line of thinking there. Alot of guys are packing in the heaver tripods for stability, but not sure I can justify the weight if standing shots are few and far between. However, it's a tough decision since it seems like you can get alot more stability for about 1 - 1.5 lbs additional weight...

Looking forward to your results, appreciate it.
