Tricer releasing a new tripod, the HK. Looks like it has the potential to be a great shooting and glassing setup with the DZ head that’s also lightweight to use in the backcountry. Struggling to find a setup to both shoot from and put my spotter on. Anyone lay hands on the HK yet at a show?

Ope. Ordered.
Similar form factor to the leofoto 282cmx that I like (good enough to shoot off)
The Tricer is lighter and taller. Accomplished by thinner tube walls. So probably more wobbly by a touch. Better if primarily glassing, but good enough for shooting possibly. We'll see. An inverted 3 section tripod at this price is a winner no matter what if you ask me.

Leofoto 282CMX
30" collapsed
47" extended
2 section INVERTED LEGS
2.7lbs
10x carbon layers

Tricer HK
26" collapsed
60" extended
3 section INVERTED LEGS
2.6 lbs
8x carbon layers

I would love to hear how it turns out. I don’t ever plan on shooting standing with a tripod, but many times a kneeling shot to get over the prairie grass that a prone shot won’t allow for would be what I’m looking for. Or hunting bears in the mountain. Primary use for it is to glass and would need something to shoot up to 300 yds kneeling which I think this will do. I’d love an RRS but the price is just not in my budget and those are a completely different system than these lightweight setups.

Are you running the DZ head on it when your HK arrives?

I have the leofoto MA30L head which I dont plan to change due to weight and stability

If seated/kneeling shooting is what you seek, the 282cmx is good to go. Others offer that too

My main interest in the Tricer HK is that it will be shootable up to kneeling AND is tall enough for standing glassing

Acceptable standing shooting would be a bonus attribute. The 282cmx accomplishes that barely, which is good enough for me
