Been doing a lot of hiking and twice ive had flare-ups in my left big toe joint. Podiatrist diagnosed hallux limitus/rigidus. Doc flushed it out and injected lidocaine/cortisone which helped immediately but im looking to try and find some shoes to help keep it from happening again if possible. When she stuck the needle in the joint, joint fluid was bubbling out it was so swollen in there. Ive been wearing Merrell Agility Peaks and Moab Speed 2 with Powerstep insoles since hiking in Lowa Camino or Tibets isnt ideal. Ive also got some Powerstep Morton's Extension Carbon Fiber Orthotic Insoles on the way which may stiffen up the trail shoes enough. Anyone else have any recommendations for light and stiff shoes for training (not hunting/packing)?

We have spent our whole life working in our family podiatric office...If you give me a call I'll be happy to sit down and talk about the type of footwear that is going to be helpful... Give us a call, doesn't cost anything to talk.

I transitioned to stiff shoes with a thin insole to get relief. Crispi Thors have been my hiking and everyday shoe for awhile now.
