Top 5 Food bars while backpacking

Yeah, the availability seems to have run out. Have you found an official word that the product has been discontinued? I have about 15 or so of them left.

Only thing I can see is they sent an email saying they are 'winding down production". I messaged them on IG to get more details and I have not received a response. I have 2-3 bars left and I have eaten them for breakfast for 2-3 years straight. I haven't found anything comparable yet.

Bummer. I had pretty much built the nourishment for all my backcountry activities around those bars.
These only have 1/2 the calories of the SANS bars, but I've heard a lot of people raving about them. I have a box on the way to try out. https://protabar.com/products/protabar-protein-bars

Clif bars (peanut butter) and Builders bars. Lara bars are mostly dates, the lemon ones are good. Also love the Nature's bakery fig bars all flavors are good.

Skratch Labs Energy Chews.

Keep 2 in my pack for emergency use; if 2 can "power" me for 30-32 miles on a trail run through the desert then that is enough to get my sorry ass back to camp.

Mega omega trail mix from walmart
Another vote for honey stingers with Justin’s almond butter.
And probars.
Homemade Summer sausage and a block of cheese will keep for the 3-4 days I’m out before I get back to the truck as well.

I think I have tried everything sold at WinCo, Walmart, and Costco.

I like Fitcrunch the best. PB has gotten old but they have a mint chocolate chip that's pretty good.

I was buying them at Costco when on sale, $15 for 18, but it looks like the price went up recently.

I really like Kate's white chocolate macadamia bar too, but they are too pricey for what you get.

Still in mourning over losing the SANs bars but this is what i have switched to now.

About to finish off my last stash of SANS bars on a backpacking trip next week.
I've been doing these: https://protabar.com/products/protabar-protein-bars

They are ok. It doesn't seem as if there is anything comparable that replaces the calorie density of the SANS bars without getting into the $5+ range per bar.

They’re not cheap but you can wait until they’re on sale and stock up. Best protein bar I’ve found.

Bobo's are on sale at Costco so I bought some.

I was skeptical but they are better than expected!
I had incorrectly assumed they were like Crustables.

Thanks Robinhood21!
