A fix back east
I've been a member of the site for a while, and I figure I could start joining in on some of the discussions. I'm a flatlander from upstate NY and I mainly hunt the farmlands for whitetails and the Adirondacks (from an established camp) for bigger bucks and bear. Though I fish and bird hunt with the mutt when I can as well. We typically put on 10-12 miles a day going up and down ridges (not the same kind of vertical, but plenty of rock climbing nonetheless).

I found this site looking for some information on gear for backpack hunting since that's I do every fall up north and I was sick of dragging in 100-150 lbs of gear (figured that there had to be a better way, and there was! A lot of ADK hunters just haven't realized it yet. They'd rather drive to the parking lot, walk a half-mile and sit all day). I'd like to thank everyone that posts because this site is a wealth of information, especially in sorting out the junk from the acceptable to the cream of the crop and what the differences are.

I was stationed out in WA in the 90s and I keep thinking about getting back west and this place sure doesn't make it any easier to resist.

Good luck to everyone getting their hunt on!
