I have been digging around in the custom Tikka thread looking at all the stock upgrades.

I am getting a CTR soon and would like feedback on the factory stock. Everyone talks about how it’s a tack driver out of the box.

I had a CTR in .260 Rem. Handloading with 130 gr Berger Hybrids it was a legitimate 3/4 MOA gun with the factory stock and barrel. I put it in an MPA chassis and had a Kreiger barrel put on it. It was then a legitimate 1/2 MOA gun. That 1/4 minute was pretty expensive. That said, it was a pretty bad ass rifle.

I had one in .223 and it was a shooter but hated the stock.. it made the rifle feel cheap to me. I sold it.

My gun was very barrel heavy since the stock was so light. Again shot well but didn't feel balanced.

They are very high quality stocks, light and stiff. If you’ve ever had one in the mill you see how much glass there is in the matrix. With the high comb and vertical grip they’re perfect.

Anyone know if the heavier CTR barrel will fit the inlet of a standard factory T3/X stock or is additional inletting required? I ask because I'm thinking about having the first step of progressive rifle upgrade for my T3X is buying a pulled CTR barrel and running on the factory T3X Lite stock. Future will be a nicer stock and barrel.

You’ll need to open up the barrel channel. If you’re not looking to enter any beauty contests you can do it yourself with a little patience.

I suspect a rasp would work. Or I could do some horse trading to rid the T3X stock for both CTR barrel and stock...
