Ok, have another question....

Went to order rings for the Tikka and I had more options than I thought I would. I'm looking at getting the one-piece DNZ ring(s) for the 30mm tube Vortex I'm ordering and I have the option of low-mount, medium mount, or high mount.. Which do you think is the best option? The scope I was about to order is the Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16x44 VMR-1.

This is also the last chance to take me out of that scope :) The other one I was looking at was the Vortex Viper HS 4-16x50 30mm Long Range, but the HS-T seemed to be a better choice in my research...

I'd go with the low - that's what I put on the T3 I got for Christmas from the wife - I am sporting a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x44. Just my opinion mind you.

I just spent all day researching the same question.

Low should work with the 44 and medium the 50.

I'd get one of the demo model 4-16x44 in the classifieds right now for 399. I couldn't find anything about the tactical model that I'd use over the LR.

That low-mount looks super tight, from that angle almost like it's touching the barrel? But I'm guessing it's not.. You think the low is a better option with a 44 than the medium? Don't think the low is "too tight"?

the 4.5-14x44 is a little longer so it doesnt have as tight of a fit, that 2.5-10 isnt touching but it has no room to spare, i like the lower mount seems to be easier to get a good cheek weild, my buddy has a 4.5-44x44 hs in the lows, Ill see if i can get him to send me a pic and ill post it

By the looked of it, you have room for low mounts. Most ppl seem to get a more comfortable/consistent cheek weld out of lows. That would be my suggestion.

i had the dnz medium when i had my nikon monarch on it i like it it wasnt a bad mount what so ever, strong and light weight. then i got the Viper HSLR 4-16x44 on my t3 300wsm and put a picatiny 0 moa rail and some weaver rings that are light and fairly strong looking, put first rounds out of it today with a new load we built up (168 barnes tsx) and i only had to shoot 1 round and adjusted for about 1" to the right and one click down(sense its 1/2 moa per click) and it was punching a tight quarter sized group with 5 shots at 100 all on the orange mark.... all in all it was good glass got the scope on good and i love it! definitely will be a life time vortex customer and maybe on my next rifle go dnz sense im looking into getting a .243 t3 lite.
