Tikka Factory Stocks... what to do with them?

Imho they fit fine, the material is as good or better than those in its price point / weight, the recoil pad is perfectly fine. Maybe on high recoiling guns a better one may be preferred but the stock one is functional.

With a vertical grip they feel good and are functional, anyone that claims they aren’t is exaggerating or not grounded in reality. Yes after market stocks can offer incremental improvement for more money.

Aftermarket stocks may or may not improve accuracy of an otherwise stock factory Tikka. I’ve never seen a poor fitting T3x stock and have pretty much replicated group sizes with them in five different calibers, in seven different rifles as compared to five different aftermarket stocks. This being in otherwise factory rifles. I had one actually shoot better in the factory stock than in a B&C.

Factory stock makes a fun paint project. They work good enough with a cheek riser on a beater or trainer rifle.

That's what I'm looking to do for my grandson, have 2 stocks on the way. How do you go about cutting them down? What are you using for a recoil pad?

Any pics of the inside of the stock after cutting them down?

This is the inside of one I just used a slip on recoil pad but you could screw the original butt pad back on and grind it to fit or just leave it big on there

I just sold two for more than the $50 in the OP.

One of mine was a ctr stock/bottom metal/mag. That guy bought it for a cheap way to try out some casual matches using a t3x lite action he already had.

The other was a lite that had a oem ctr cheek rest, an arca attachment and flush cups. I didnt ask, but I assume the guy had a t3x already and was really just switching out the stock in order to get the accessories.

The plastic stocks arent my thing, but they’re better than most comparable plastic stocks. There’s nothing wrong with them, most people are quite happy with them. I imagine anyone buying an un-altered stock is doing so to cut it down or modify in some way.

I use a radial chop saw to cut it. Works well. Then a pachmayr D200 grind to fit pad.

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one using 2 spacers with the Victor cheek riser...

Not yet. I have a small telescopingstock on a 22 for my daughter. I had red dot on it for her but have switched her to a magnification scope. Once she climates to that, then I will cut it to proper size for her at that time. Probably let her pic the colors and do a paint job to make it special for her...
