Looking for some advice…
I’ve got a tikka T3x I’m wanting to rebarrel to a 6 creed. I’ve been looking at the carbon 6, they’ve got a sale that’s up today, but their wait time is 6-10 months. I can buy a proof in stock from op, but have read hit or miss reviews on the headspaceing.
I recently read about snowy mountain rifle, looks like I need to call them about a tikka prefit. I don’t see the option on their website.
I’m not dead set on a carbon but it seems like by the time a get a steel barrel chambered and fluted I’m money ahead with the carbon.
What other options do I need to look at. Thanks

That’s a good buy but I’m thinking about 20-22”. I live in Illinois so currently can’t have suppresser.

I would still do a preferred,
@hereinaz, he may do longer barrels worth giving him a DM, he was also going to do it as a service if you send in the action.

I put a Proof carbon 6 cm on my tikka. I like long barrels because I like the speed. It’s a shooter.

C6 makes accurate barrels in my experience. Their C.S. leaves a bad taste. Their lead times are often not accurate. They are very nice barrels that flat out shoot tho.

Their options and price are appealing but at 10 months I clearly should have jumped on this sooner.
The older I get I’ve learned the hard way to go with the better costumer service.

Barrels under 20” are better off fluted steel. At 24” carbon fiber starts to make a difference.

I will try doing some one offs at different lengths, with a smaller discount with this preorder. PM if you like. Could do CF if you want.

Preferred will do a carbon wrapped as well.

I prefer steel just because they tend to be less finicky. You can also get them lighter than Carbon. Since you can't have a suppressor, there is also no need to go large diameter on the barrel. The standard Tikka Superlite contour would work just fine and would probably be at least a 1/2 pound lighter than a similar length carbon-wrapped barrel.

I chose a BSF CF Barrel for my Tikka 6CM build. Same barrel Weatherby is using on their 307's. Leadtime was 4-6 weeks and pricing was good! It should be showing up to the gunsmith any day now.

Would highly recommend Jaden at West Elk Precision. 2-4 week lead time on his barrels. He was recently a guest at the Exo Mtn podcast on the prefit barrels episode, probably be a pretty good listen. Also he's a super friendly guy to call and talk to.
